LET'S TALK ABOUT THE DRESS - COLOR

When you think of a bride, what comes to mind? For most, it is an image of a woman in a grand, beautiful white dress. That, however, was not always the case, and still is not in some instances.

For most of history, brides rarely purchased a dress specifically for their wedding day, wearing instead the best dress that they owned. The color of said dress was usually not taken into account. The 1840 wedding of England’s Queen Victoria and Prince Albert is considered the point in history where white became the standard color for wedding gowns. This standard continues to this day, but women are more open to expressing their personalities on their wedding day, and color can be a perfect way to do that.

While white and ivory are still the most popular colors for a wedding gown, champagne and blush tones have gained popularity in recent years. These color options are more subtle and look good on a variety of skin tones.

There are also less traditional options where color is concerned. You can add splashes of color with your jewelry and accessories, or on your dress itself. Dip dying the bottom of a dress adds just a touch of color, and can be as bold or as subtle as you like.

Another way to add some subtle color is embroidery or a partial, soft print.

You can also choose a soft pastel color, like lavender, pale blue, or even mint.

You can also buck tradition completely and go with a bright, bold color, like red or yellow.

Add some sparkle to your affair with a metallic dress.

Prints can add a touch of soft color or a pop of brightness.

You can also go a completely opposite direction, and add drama and glamour with a black dress.

Whether you choose to go the traditional route and wear a white or ivory dress, or express yourself with a colorful gown, you should feel beautiful and like the best version of yourself. Don't be afraid to try something different!

WEDDING TREND TUESDAY - CHAMPAGNE TOWERS

It's official, champagne towers are back. Towers are made from champagne coup glasses, which are shallow, broad-bowled, stemmed glasses, stacked in layers. Champagne is continuously poured into the top glass, trickling down to fill every glass below. The coupe was designed especially for champagne in England in 1663, but came into fashion in the 1920's and 30's and remained popular throughout the 60's.

A champagne tower adds glamour and drama, along with a vintage touch, to a wedding. So, grab some glasses, pop some bubbly, and start pouring!

WEDDING TREND TUESDAY - EDIBLE FAVORS

When your guests leave your wedding, having a unique favor or treat available for them to take is a great way for them to remember how much fun the affair was. A growing trend is to have that favor be one that they eat or drink. Edible (or drinkable) favors are a fun way for your guests to leave with a token of your appreciation that they will be sure to enjoy. From sweet treats like candy, cupcakes, and donuts, to savory ones like freshly baked bread, there are endless possibilities when it comes to edible favors for your wedding. Miniature bottles of wine and champagne or single soda bottles, even coffee, can be a nice treats for your guests to take home with them. Add a personalized label, and these favors will be unforgettable!

BRIDAL BEAUTY - BOLD LIPS

Don't be afraid of a little color on your wedding day. Incorporating a bright or bold lip color into your wedding day makeup is a great way to add some drama and visual interest to your overall look. If you do decide to go with a statement lip, be sure to balance your look with more subtle eye makeup and blush . Also, be sure to invest in a long lasting lip color, so that your perfect pout won't be smeared, smudged, or kissed off. Check out these favorites from Brides Magazine and Allure Magazine

Whether classic red, berry, pink, coral, or another shade, a bold lip can make a bride feel all the more special on her wedding day.
